Zen and the art of avoiding boredom on a bike

Let’s face it, cycling is boring. And on your own, doubly so. And in Holland, quadruply so. And apparently I’m immune to the alleged high you get from the hypothetical endorphin your body supposedly produces when you exercise. So what’s left for the cynic who wants to stay in shape? Technology! I spent Saturday pimping my ride, including fitting new comfy handlebars on which I can now attach a GPS receiver as well as my mp3 player. And now sports is fun! And when I get home I get plenty of more fun with Google maps and my downloaded tracks, as described previously. Probably my next pimping will include internet access and watching TV, so I’ll have the comfort of my sofa anywhere on the road.
